Florida registered landscape architecture practice · LA0000795

Registered landscape architects for South Florida.

We have designed residential, commercial and civic landscapes from our Fort Lauderdale studio since 1982. We work across Broward, Miami-Dade and southern Palm Beach, and we handle every project from the first site visit through permitting to the final inspection.

What we do

Planning, design and administration.

Most projects need one or two of these services and some need all three. We will tell you which ones your property actually needs.

Site planning

Every project starts with the site itself. We look at where the water goes, what the soil is and which trees are protected, then organize the property around what we find. Planning this way settles the difficult questions before anything is designed.

  • Site analysis and existing conditions
  • Master planning and phasing
  • Zoning, landscape code and tree ordinance

Landscape design

We draw planting, hardscape, pool surrounds, water features, lighting and irrigation as one coordinated set. Species are selected for mature size, salt tolerance and water demand, so the garden still looks right ten years from now.

  • Planting plans, schedules and specifications
  • Terraces, walks, drives, walls and steps
  • Pool surrounds, water and fire features

Project administration

We stay with the project after the drawings are finished. We submit for permit, answer the city's review comments, help you compare bids on identical scope, and remain involved through construction. We do not install landscapes, so our only interest on site is that yours is built correctly.

  • Permit submittal and review responses
  • Bid documents and contractor comparison
  • Site observation and final walk-through

The practice

Designing South Florida landscapes since 1982.

Local experience is the difference between a landscape that matures well and one that has to be replaced in a few years.

South Florida sets conditions you will not find in a plant catalogue: limestone soils that drain in minutes, salt wind that burns anything planted on the wrong side of a seawall, hurricane season, water restrictions, and landscape codes and tree ordinances that change from one municipality to the next. We have been designing around all of it since 1982.

Every set of drawings that leaves the studio is sealed by a registered landscape architect, and the people who walk your property at the start are the same people on site during construction. Your project is never passed to a team you have not met.

The drawings

Drawings your contractor can build from.

We produce construction documents, not just renderings.

Your installer receives a dimensioned, specified and sealed set: plant schedules with mature sizes and quantities, hardscape layout with real dimensions, grading notes, irrigation zones, and the details that keep the work accurate on site.

It is also what your municipality needs to see. We prepare every set against your city's landscape code and tree requirements from the start, so your project is far more likely to clear review on the first submittal.

How we work

How a project runs, start to finish.

You work with the same people from start to finish, and the scope is agreed in writing before we draw anything.

Site visit

We walk the property with you and review the existing conditions: drainage, soils, sun and wind, tree canopy, views, setbacks and applicable code. We then discuss how you want to use the space and what the property has to do for you.

Concept plan

We prepare a scaled concept plan showing layout, circulation, hardscape and planting zones. We refine it with you until the plan is right, before any construction details are drawn.

Documents and permit

We produce sealed planting and hardscape plans, grading notes, irrigation design, specifications and schedules, all prepared to clear your municipality's landscape review.

Bid and build

We help you compare bids on equal terms, answer contractor questions, observe the work on site, and verify that what is installed is what was specified.
